Bite Club Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 September 2026
Bite Club is a mobile card game published by Hello Maiko Ltd, company number 15851637, registered in England and Wales. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what happens to it. We have tried to keep it short and honest, because the app collects very little.
Who is responsible
Hello Maiko Ltd is the data controller for Bite Club. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@hellomaiko.com.
What the app collects
Bite Club does not have user accounts. You do not give us an email address, a phone number, a password, or your real name.
The app handles the following information:
- Display name. The name you type when you join a table. It is shown to the other players at that table and is not verified. You can enter anything.
- Device identifier.A random identifier generated on your device when you first open the app. It lets you reconnect to a game if the app closes, and lets the host's purchase unlock tables on that device. It is not your advertising ID and is not linked to any other identity.
- Game data. Room codes, the cards in play, tank contents and turn state, while a game is running. This is needed for the game to work across several phones.
- Purchase status. Whether the full version or any expansion pack has been bought. This is handled by Apple or Google and by our purchase processor. We do not see your payment card details.
- Crash and error reports. If the app crashes, a technical report may be sent to us containing the device model, operating system version, app version and the error. It does not contain your display name or game history.
- Usage analytics.Only if you agree when asked. This covers events such as a game starting or ending and which cards are played, so we can balance the game. It is not linked to you personally and you can withdraw consent in the app's settings at any time.
What the app does not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera content (the camera is used only to read a QR code on the device and nothing is stored), messages, advertising identifiers, or any information about other apps on your phone. Bite Club shows no advertising and we do not sell or share personal information with anyone for marketing.
Why we use this information
- To run the game between the phones at your table.
- To restore your purchase on the same device.
- To fix crashes and bugs.
- To improve the balance of the cards, if you have agreed to analytics.
The legal basis under UK GDPR is our legitimate interest in providing and maintaining the game, the performance of a contract for purchases, and your consent for analytics.
How long we keep it
- Game rooms and everything in them are deleted from our servers within 30 minutes of a game ending or being abandoned.
- The device identifier stays on your phone until you delete the app. Our servers hold it only while you are connected to a table.
- Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
- Analytics events, where consented to, are kept in aggregate form for up to 14 months.
- Purchase records are held by Apple or Google under their own policies.
Who else handles the information
To run the app we use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Our hosting provider, for the game servers.
- Apple and Google, for distributing the app and handling payments.
- A purchase management service, for checking purchase status across devices.
- A crash reporting service, if you have not disabled it.
- An analytics service, only if you have consented.
These providers may be located outside the UK. Where that is the case, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
Children
Bite Club is a social game intended for adults and older teenagers playing together in person. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent for analytics at any time. Because the app holds almost nothing that identifies you, the simplest way to remove everything is to delete the app, which removes the device identifier. For anything else, email info@hellomaiko.com and we will respond within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be shown inside the app.
